The Math Magician

Effect: Find the two cards that a person has chosen from a deck of cards.

Preparation: Take a normal deck of cards. Take out all the face cards (Kings, Queens, Jacks). For this trick, the aces can be used as "1."

Trick: Shuffle the deck of cards so that they are mixed up. Have someone pick one of the cards and remember the number. Have them put the card back in the deck.

Tell the person double the number and add 5 (if the card was a "7," then 7+7+5=19). Don't let them tell you the number!

Now have them multiply that number by 5. (19 x 5=95). Tell them not to forget this number.

Have the person select one more card. Have the person add this number to the number they came up with before (If the new card is a "4," then 95+4=99). Now, have them tell you that final number.

The Math:

In your head, subtract 25 from the total. If the final number they told you was 99, take 99 and subtract 25 (99-25=74).

The two cards that they picked were the digits from your answer "74" ("7" and "4").

Try this with two different cards. It will always work!
